Are you looking for a good way to display some of your Twitter followers on your Wordpress blog? There’s a cool little widget plugin that has been built to make this very easy for you to setup. It’s called the Twitter Followers plugin for Wordpress (open source of course, otherwise I wouldn’t mention it) and you can see it in action in my sidebar. Here is a screenshot to give you a better idea.

The widget is very easy to enable. Just go to the ‘Widgets’ page in your Wordpress admin panel. Locate the new Twitter Followers widget and drag it to your area of choice. This is all assuming you have installed and activated the plugin already.
Now select the dropdown and setup your preferences including your Twitter username and password so the plugin can fetch your Twitter followers. Here is a screenshot of how I configured mine.

Be Sure To Block Spammers
You never know who’s following you on Twitter. And if you plan on displaying your Twitter Followers on your blog, be sure to keep an eye out for spammers who are following you and to block those spammers through Twitter so they don’t show up on your widget.
I actually had an issue when I first installed and configured this plugin with a Porn Spammer who was following me on Twitter. The spammer’s avatar showed up in my widget, therefore showing to all my readers which could have potentially ruined my blog. Luckily I caught it right away and blocked the Twitter user from being able to follow me.

Wow, I would never have thought about the spammer thing. That’s a good thing though that you caught the inappropriate image you had from the avatar of the follower and removed them in time to not get emails about it.
Best of luck to you with your site!
