There are alot of video plugins for wordpress, most of which pertain to embedding videos from third party locations such as youtube. But what if you want to show your own videos from within your website, not a third party location? My purpose for writing this article is because of the trouble I ran into when trying to setup flash video on my wordpress blogs.

Viper’s Video Quicktags
This plugin is very easy to use and simple to install. Go to this link to download the plugin. What this plugin does is it allows you to upload SWF files into your uploads directory and be displayed in any post or page with the famous Jeroen Wijering flash video player.

Convert Video Files to SWF Files Tool
The problem here is, however, what if your video file is not in swf format? Chances are your video is in flv format, or maybe even wmv format. This open-source tool called Flash This! 1.7 will convert these files for you to swf format. So this tool, plus the flash plugin tool for wordpress will give you a easy solution in hosting your own flash steaming video on your wordpress blog.

If any of you know of any better wordpress flash video plugins or of a better way to accomplish this same process, please give us your feedback. So far I have found that this is the easiest way to accomplish this.
