An Open Source Website Tour Creator

Web Design, Web Development, Web Tools no comments

Amberjack is a simple, easy to customize open source website tour creator built primarily using Javascript. Typically when you see website tours you either see videos or screencasts. But with this javascript application you can give a site tour, directing people through a series of your content pages in a specific order with having to use video or a screencast.

What Could This Be Used For?

Well it’s up to you really. Many companies will use site tours on their corporate style websites to display a certain product or service. Where you are likely to see this the most is on sites explaining their web application(s).

Either way, no matter what the purpose, when you want to display specific content in a specific order through a tour of the website, than you are going to find this little tool quite helpful.

A Site Tour For Bloggers

I’ve been thinking for some time now how I might do some type of tour for my blog. I have found in my blogging that often times people who visit your blog don’t fully understand the purpose of your blog. They read your article then move on.

I had thought about putting together a video about Open Source and my overall goal behind my blog, but that could be quite time consuming. This is perfect! As a blogger you could put a call to action in your sidebar for something like “Learn More About This Blog” which pulls up the Amberjack site tour.

Just a thought!
