Open Source For The Dental Industry

Open Source 3 comments

Software in the dental industry in and of itself is a huge industry. There are currently over 40 commercial vendors and counting who provide dental practice management software to dentist offices around the United States. Each company varying in size with Dentrix and Easy Dental leading the way. However, there is a dental practice management software that is starting to influence this market. And best of all it’s an open source product. It’s called Open Dental and can be found by clicking the link here provided.

This is quite the impressive piece of open source software being that dental practice management software by nature is quite complex. Much more complex than your standard customer relationship manager or ERP. But even with it’s complexity Open Dental has somehow found a way to be influential and almost dangerous in its competition with other software vendors. They of course, to stay in business, offer a support package similar to Sugar CRM to help run a business out of the program. But, the software as a whole is open source and available to the public. Check out their site at www.open-dent.com and see some of their software features and support packages. Recommend it to your dentist or orthodontist.

CRM designed specifically for dental professional will be a welcome development as proprietary and custom software prices are sky roketting.
