Ever wonder what it would be like if you combined CraigsList with Youtube? I sure have. iMoondo has done just that. They have created a cool website where people can submit video classifieds of things or services they are selling. As much as I love Craigslist.com sometimes, I have a hard time even finding classifieds with pictures. iMoondo is one step better. Not only will I get to see pictures of the classified ad I am looking at, I will get to see video taken by the seller as well. As a user this gives me much more confidence in the person I am buying from. I can see angles of the product that I would never have before seen. And I may even get to see the actual person who is selling the product. I recommend this site to all classified buyers and sellers. If you are already selling things on ebay or craigslist, you need to start taking advantage of iMoondo. To learn more about iMoondo go to their blog at blog.imoondo.com. Chow!

iMoodo has plenty of videos from Boston, but almost none from anywhere else. If you want to see videos from across the country and around the world, check out http://www.realpeoplerealstuff.com. Unlike iMoondo’s lookalike videos that are shot by the iMoondo’s team, at realpeoplerealstuff, the videos are shot by real people, so there’s much more variety.

imoondo is cool…and there’s another site out there that also offers video classifieds–Listasaurus.com. And they have an even more interesting twist–they PAY you to list your ads. It’s a fun website, and one thing that’s nice is, you don’t have to include video, but you can. I like having the option (I like looking at the videos but haven’t mastered putting one out there yet). I do think it’s a great new way to view your products, especially with video you can prove your item actually works. Will be interesting to see how video classifieds pan out.

Hey Alan, Great call on the realpeoplerealstuff.com website. I like the layout of the site and felt like it was easy to use. How did you find out about this one?

Listasaurus.com is a good idea and all but the site is butt ugly. It needs some serious work!

iMoondo and RealPeopleRealStuff both seem pretty cool - one of these guys will definitely take the lead in video classifieds. It does seem pretty obvious that iMoondo is based out of Boston. Jeeze, if they really did film all that, kudos to them for trying so hard to show people ways of filming this stuff. RPRS is pretty cool too. Easy to use and everything. But I get this feeling that most of their videos are pretty commercial, like I may have seen some of them on a 3 a.m. tv spot next to the Ginsu Knives.

Thanks for the write up :-) With any new concept or technology, there’s an awkward moment before the concept matures. Video classifieds is a medium in its infancy, over time people get more comfortable being in front of the camera and selling, promoting or meeting people.

At iMoondo we are trying to be useful to the community - and we target Boston (our homebase), San Francisco and NYC. We are trying to get a critical mass of videos to show the world what is this all about.

Most of our videos were shot by iMoondo videographers, guys and gals doing it because they believe in the idea. They were walking the streets rain or shine, talking up the small business owners, artists and cool characters and personalities in general. Without iMoondos help, these people would not have the technology or expertise to do this on their own. Since our release in May, we got uploads from Denver, Houston and Seattle.

Few links of videos to illustrate my point, all shot by different people. Can you tell? :-)

http://www.imoondo.com/play/38 826 Valencia Pirate shop in SF
    http://www.imoondo.com/play/169 Mr. Falafel in NYC
http://www.imoondo.com/play/517 66 Corvette for sale in Houston (a little long but the car is sweet)
http://www.imoondo.com/play/95 Amstel Neon Sign for sale in Boston (I’ll give you a discount if you mention this blog)

Alan, you really think that iMoondo videos are lookalike? The quality might be consistent, and in my opinion it’s more pleasant to watch. It’s real people in front of the camera after all. Check out iMoondo testimonials page for videos of business owners talking about the feedback they got since they posted on iMoondo. http://www.imoondo.com/browse/Testimonials My point is: iMoondo works! The LA Times article was not so kind to RPRS. But really, why this negative talk w/o disclosure that its your site you are linking to? Let’s try to be objective in the future :-)
