Drupal Or Joomla?

CMS 2 comments

Which content management system do you prefer? Leave a comment to this post and let me know which CMS you prefer and if you have a second why. I want to do a poll and put the numbers/percentages together for you. I also want to write an article based on all the response that I get. It will be interesting to note what the rest of us out there are using. So again, leave an answer to the following question:

Which content management system do you prefer, Drupal or Joomla? And why?

Your feedback is very much appreciated. Thanks

At my previous employer we looked at both a few months ago. I first looked under the hood and liked the clean file and directory structure, code readability and overall attention to detail in Drupal. Some of the nicest code I’ve seen, and I’ve seen a lot! Joomla looked messy in comparison. Then I looked at modules. Lots of them, an overwhelming number, in fact, for Drupal. Some for Joomla, with those that interested me not free, and each available from a different small shop. I don’t dislike non-free in principle, but hitting the pay-me-first wall so quickly left a bad taste nevertheless. Finally, I checked the community. Thousands of great people enthusiastic about Drupal and sharing ideas, code, and support. Also lots of people gathering around Joomla, but somehow it seemed less vibrant and less free spirited.
    The choice was easy.
