5 Reasons Bing Needs To Succeed

With more Google Panda updates coming out lately and seeing some of the data that is resulting from it  from other SEO’s, it really had me thinking more and more about Bing. We (the people) need Bing to succeed! We need Bing to compete with Google when it comes to Search and take up more and more of search market share. Here are my 5 reasons why: Reason #1. Google is overly promoting it’s own properties & content pushing out brands that are in competition with them. Reason #2. Google has no real incentive to drastically improve it’s algorithm a.k.a Batman needs a Joker to keep the story interesting. Reason #3. There’s a desperate need for 2 Search strategies i.e Trust & Authority vs. Social Emphasis. Aged/Linked content vs. More Up-To-Date content etc. Reason #4. To prevent future AntiTrust cases against Google a.k.a “the secret sauce is too good!” This [...]

Making Tons of $ or Changing The World?

Which Is More Important To You? I’ve presented this question to many of my friends and business colleagues recently out of pure curiosity. Mostly because there really is no right or wrong answer here. It’s not as black and white as it may seem. Let me give you an example. Mark Zuckerberg founder and CEO of Facebook.com and Matt Mullenweg founder and creator of the WordPress CMS. Both figures when it comes to the internet, are widely known and influential. Example #1: Mark Zuckerberg – Making Tons of $ Mark Zuckerberg has created an online empire with Facebook.com. The #1 Social site in the entire world has even at times surpassed Google in monthly usage. With more than 800 million active users and an estimated $4.27 Billion in revenue for 2011, Mark’s global reach and influence has clearly spanned the globe. Long story short… Mark has changed and arguably even [...]

Leveraging the Robots Meta Tag with WordPress

What If I told you I was able to increase the indexation of all my blogs by over 40% and  increase organic search traffic by over 28% by simply leveraging the Robots Meta Tag inside WordPress? Let me explain… The Robots Meta Tag is a powerful tool for SEO’s and webmasters to help better communicate to search engines which pages they do not want indexed and searchable to the outside world. “Why would I ever want a page on my site to not be indexed by search engines?” Good question. It totally depends on your site. In the case of blogs, I have found through experience that all of those extra Tag, date, and author archives with all the sub-pages associated with it (/page/2, /page/3 etc.) tend to hurt the overall value of your site more than they help. They spread your site too thin with almost duplicate content all [...]

Promoting 2nd & 3rd Tier Blogs

Now that Social Media has officially become a major component of SEO, blogs that are not so mainstream or what I like to call 2nd and 3rd tier blogs have the potential of being left out and squeezed out of more and more search results. This is not a good thing my friends because 2nd and 3rd tier blogs are often better resources  because of the writers involved and their ability to be more specific and opinionated. Examples of 1st Tier Blogs – Mashable.com – SEOmoz.org/blog – Copyblogger.com – SmashingMagazine.com etc. Examples of 2nd and 3rd Tier Blogs – TentBlogger.com – ChaseSagum.com (shameless plug) – DanZarrella.com – LinkSpiel.com etc. 1st Tier Blogs + Absorbing Social Activity = Huge Problem! First tier blogs, those popular blogs that everybody seems to be reading such as Mashable or DeadSpin are getting all of the social activity. Meanwhile the 2nd and 3rd tier blogs [...]
