A flagship according to Wikipedia in common language refers to the most important or leading member of a group. In Naval terms it’s the lead ship in a fleet of vessels, often known to be the largest, fastest, newest, and most heavily armed or, for publicity purposes, the best known.
In SEO it essentially means the same thing. It’s a lead page or blog post that acts as the “biggest and baddest” and gathers all of the SEO value (links, tweets etc.) and distributes that SEO value to all of your posts that relate to it. Let me break it down for you.
The SEO Flagship Concept
Step 1: Write Some Blog Posts
Write various individual blog posts around a certain subject. So for example over the next couple of weeks you may want to write various blog posts about Justin Bieber (Oh wow I hope you don’t really do this). While doing [...]

Okay so now with this whole Google Caffeine thing we know how important loading speed is for your website when it comes to SEO. Not to mention the fact that you would hate to think that your visitors are having to wait and wait just to view your content. If you are running WordPress (there’s a good chance you are) and you are in need of speeding up your site/blog there are a few quick fixes you can make that will improve your speed dramatically. Here are 5 quick steps you can make:
Making WordPress Run Faster
I will not list what everyone else seems to mention on this subject and that is “faster web hosting” as i’m going to assume that is obvious and you are already doing what you can in that area. Yes high quality content does equal high search engine rankings. But defining high quality content can be a bit tricky. Some people think it’s a tool. Some think it’s download-able ebooks. Some a podcast. Some a video. Some think it’s just a well crafted article full of text.
The Answer? All of the above. Content for the web as it is described by experts is pretty much anything that can be viewed by an end user online. But it’s not so much the “thing” that is important here but the quality of the “thing” if you catch my drift.
Why Does Content Have to Be Truly Valuable?
Well before we even get into the SEO benefits of valuable high quality content, let’s first talk about the moral obligation you and I have as web publishers. There is so much spam on the web today that you can hardly go anywhere without running into [...]

I’ve learned a few things about SEO over the years and have consistently written blog posts to try and shed light on some of the things I have learned. What I want to present to you NOW is a collection of articles I have written over the past year that shed some light on specific “SEO Secrets” if you will, that many SEO professionals either do no know or do not want you to hear. How did I get my information you ask?
My SEO Knowledge has come from intense implementation of various tests on this blog and the evaluation of those tests!
Combine that with research and study consistently over the past 4 years and that is how I have learned what I have learned. This ebook is not a “complete guide to SEO” by any stretch. It is simply a collection of articles that help reveal some important SEO truths that are [...]

Sometimes things just need to go in the garbage. Just like the spring cleaning you do around your house or apartment, your blog over time tends to build up more and more excess waste that it really doesn’t need.
Recently I spent some time going through my posts back in 2007 and started to delete some old junk. The “SEO Expert” in you probably thinks it’s crazy to even consider deleting old blog posts. But the blogger in you realizes that for whatever reason blog posts become out-dated and/or irrelevant. Let’s look at the 5 reasons why you may want to go back and delete old, junky blog posts.
1. The “Whoops Did I really Say That” Posts
As bloggers we’ve all said things that we regret. I used to notoriously call out people who I thought were abusing an Open Source license as a form of marketing. Years later [...]
