I’m putting together a collection of the best Free Usable Wordpress Themes. Check it out. The reason for it is that there are so many Wordpress theme sites, but most of them have nothing but junk that none of us would dare use. Every once in a while you come across a really good free Wordpress theme. I’ve been coming across those consistently for the past while now and wanted to start putting a collection of those in once place!

Once of my biggest problems with most free themes is that they are not “usable”. Meaning, they are so wacked out in how they were created that it would take too much time of your own to customize them the way you would like. A Usable theme is one that already looks fantastic, and one that can be easily customized to fit your logo/color schemes etc. Premium Themes are of course typically the best way to go with what I am talking about. But why not get together the free ones as much as possible. Anyway, check out my Top Free & Usable Wordpress Themes page and keep an eye on it as it grows. I will be adding to it often. Give me some feedback on what themes I may be missing out on!

I’m saddened to report to you that there are many lame community members in SugarCRM. That’s right you heard me correctly. A bunch of people trying to make an extra penny by selling plugins and extensions off of Sugar CRM. It’s a freakin crime and it pisses me off. I searched today on Sugarforge.org for an open source plugin that would synchronize Sugar with Quickbooks. All I could find was the QConnector which requires you to have the Professional (paid) version of Sugar in order to use.

So basically if you don’t PAY for the professional version of Sugar CRM then you are basically out of luck when it comes to synchronizing with Quickbooks. This totally defeats the purpose of open source! I hope somebody comes along soon and creates an open source tool that does the same as the so called “QConnector” so those idiots can go away. Somebody please do this quick! Save us from this Proprietary Nonsense!

I’m sorry you have to deal with me talking about Sugar CRM all of the time but I just can’t help myself. It’s too freakin good of an open source product. My consulting company, eVolve, is having so much success helping companies with Sugar CRM right now. Consulting and compiling Sugar CRM for a small, struggling business is a very rewarding service. It’s been neat to see small businesses grow and learn and “evolve” as our company has taught and instructed them how to use Sugar!

Remember, Sugar CRM is nice to have and all, but it’s worthless to you if you don’t know how to use it. It’s also useless to you if you don’t know how to apply it to your business. That’s why there are so many Sugar CRM installations that just sit stale and nobody uses them. So it’s just as important to teach someone how to use Sugar as it is to install it for them. Remember that!

Sugar CRM has a new studio feature for the administrator that allows easy customization of the various fields and tabs in your sugar installation. This is a terrific feature because it allows each installation of Sugar to be custom to each individual business. Since each business has it’s own workflow’s and way’s of performing business, this ability to customize the CRM is vital. The problem you run into is when companies claim to have a “one size fits all” approach to CRM and try to force you into their way of doing it. Every business and it’s owner have their own specific way of performing business and that is how the CRM for that business should be setup.

This is however, not an easy demand to supply for developers because CRM’s are generally pretty large applications. Businesses want their CRM and “they want it now”, while programmers are hustling trying to accommodate their needs as fast as they can. My consulting firm eVolve Internet Consulting, has had much success as of recently in customizing Sugar CRM for our clients, then training them on how to use the system. Because the Studio feature is so easy to use and simple to understand, we are able to customize and entire CRM in a matter of hours for our clients. Then we can spend more time on training them on the system, rather than developing it. The customer walks away happy and satisfied with a product that they are confident in and know how to use. This Studio feature is yet another reason why I recommend Sugar CRM as the CRM of choice above all others.
