Joobsbox is an open source job board application built using PHP and MySQL. To explain it to you in a practical sense, you can use this open source application to build your own job board where you and/or others can post job postings and organize those job postings into different categories. After spending some time thorugh the demo it appears that the application is pretty easy to use and the functionality appears to be quite extensive. This new application creates some pretty awesome business opportunities…some of which include the following:

1. A Local Job Board
Let’s say you live in South Dakota. You can use this open source app to create a local “south dakota job board” where you can have businesses from all over your local area post there job postings on your job board website. You could create a “premium” job postings category where you charge money for those postings while the rest are free. The admin tool of Joobsbox would allow you to manage the possibility of mass postings being added to the site daily.
2. Job Board For Your Blog
Bloggers everywhere are always looking for more opportunities to make money on their blog(s). One way as popularized by Darren Rowse of Problogger.net is to have a job board on your blog and have people pay for those listings. This would be a great tool to put as a page on your blog. All you would need to do is style the theme to match the layout/design of your blog.
3. Job Board For Your Business
The last and most obvious scenario would be for you to build a job board for your “careers” page on your company website. Too many companies use ugly HTML templates for their job boards which really do take away the professionalism that needs to be portrayed when showing job opportunities. It also would allow more companies to easily add/edit/delete job postings on their website without having to pay extra $ for a web designer to make the changes on an html page.
Check out the new Joobsbox open source job board application and give us your feedback here on this blog article’s comment thread. I like the application, but i’m interested to see what the rest of you think about it.

Nice find. I haven’t tried it but looks like a good start for anyone savvy enough to install their own php app.
For less technical people, a good option is a hosted job board such as Easy Job Boards.
