activeCollab is an open-source project management tool. I have been using it now for my job with Square Compass for the past 6 months. I will tell you that it is a simple and terrific tool to use for project management. It’s still in it’s infant stages as far as development is concerned. According to their website, they plan on adding many more additional features in the near future. There is currently no support for any plugins yet, but activeCollab says that will be available to the public soon.

Let me just cover some of the main features that I have enjoyed using on activeCollab. The first being it’s ajax features. You can add, edit, and delete tasks within a specific project very easily becasue it’s built using ajax technologies. Second, there is a neat “messages” section for each project where people can leave messages with each other regarding the project. Third is milestones! You can create multiple milestones for each project and assign them to specific users. That way you can ensure that things are getting done.

Check out activeCollab.com and let me know what you think. Leave some comments and let me know if you think it’s a good project management tool or not. Again their software is open source so you can download it for free! Have fun!
