I searched for hours this morning on the best open source calendar Component and Module for Joomla! I found one with much pain and searching but I finally came across one that worked for me. It’s called the Jevents Event Calendar and it’s a free open source Component and Module for Joomla! It was very easy to install, configure, and start adding events and categories. Right out of the box the calendar looks pretty slick but will need some customizing. The css files are readily and easily available so that it’s easy to customize the look of the calendar to your preference.

Update 09/25/2010: Since the original creation of this post, the Open Source CMS WordPress has evolved into being far and away the easiest and best solution for a CMS. Now you can easily setup a great looking site and have easy to use tools to manage your content without really having to do much at all.
